Do ponies have pet birds? No, of course not. But Lou's family has acquired a new member, and a talkative one at that, with the mynah bird Anselmus. However, the fun is short-lived, as suddenly Lou's pony Liquorice is missing. It is soon obvious that he has been stolen. Lou feels terribly lonely, but then she moves heaven and earth to get her beloved pony back.
Does a pony like to swim? Not really! But on their holiday near the Sea Lou and Liquorice get to know the cool wet thing called water. They ride along the beach, go on treasure hunt and play with seals. One day they hear someone in the water shouting for help and Lou and Liquorice show that they are a perfect team.
