Lou knows exactly that she is not supposed to go home with just anybody. Mum has told her to wait for whoever is to get her from the Kindergarten. So she has to wait for this person and is not to go with anybody else, regardless if she knows them or not: neither the nice old lady, nor the friendly man or the neighbour are supposed to pick her up. Lou has promised her mother to wait for her brother to get her. And so she waits until he turns up.
