About us
Kids and Young Adults want to read books by Loewe for over 150 years. As the market leader for Early Reading, Loewe is renowned for the concept Loewe´s Lions, which has companied children for generations. Over the last three years, Loewe developed its market position and our new titles make the Company the third largest publishing house in Germany/Austria/Switzerland. With a focus on topics that children want to read, we publish books that match the changing media use and developed a new form of narration. We want all kids and Young Adults who aren’t into reading to open the book with a “wow” and trigger their interest in stories – from board books, Early Readers to award-winning All Age-thrillers: With Loewe they can become big readers even in times of digitalization! The new imprint „Loewe Wow!“ started in Spring 2020, followed by “Loewe Intense” with Feel-Good Page-Turners for Young Adults in Fall 2021. Loewe Verlag was founded in 1863 by Ferdinand Loewe. In 1965, Volker Gondrom took over the business. It was under his leadership that Loewe Verlag acquired its current shape, which has allowed it to become one of the largest and most successful publishers of books for children and young people in the German-speaking area. Volker’s son Christoph Gondrom joined the company in April 2012 as the third generation of the Gondrom family in the business. Ever since, books for young people have been successfully developed by Loewe: Ursula Poznanski’s thriller “Erebos” was awarded the German Youth Literature Prize and has been translated into more than 34 languages.
