Marlies Arold was born in 1958 in Erlenbach on the Main and studied at the College for Librarianship in Stuttgart, focusing on libraries for children. She enjoyed writing and, in 1983, her first children's and teenagers' books were published. Today, she is working as a freelance author for several publishing houses.
